After the talks, Granic stressed that he was optimistic
regarding the peaceful reintegration of eastern Slavonia, Baranja
and western Srijem and hopeful that "Belgrade will support this
process."
Granic announced that the Yugoslav Foreign Minister, Milan
Milutinovic, would arrive in Zagreb by the end of the month.
Asked about an IFOR map on which a small part of the Croatian
Danubian area was allegedly shown as part of Yugoslavia, Granic
answered that Croatian borders were well known and recognized in
all the binding decisions of international bodies, including the
Badinter Commission and all the resolutions of the UN Security
Council and the General Assembly; and that nobody cast doubts on
Croatia's territorial integrity and independence.
The Spanish Foreign Minister expressed full support to the EU
Administrator of Mostar Hans Koschnik and his decision on
organizing Mostar municipalities.
Granic also expressed his conviction that "Croats and Moslems
would find, through talks and compromises, a very good solution
which would satisfy both nations in Mostar and which would
strengthen the Bosnian Federation without offending the EU or
Koschnik."
Granic condemned attacks on Koschnik's car and threats to his
safety, stressing that in every democrat country, protests were a
democratically ensured right.
"Mosar will be a multiethnic and multicultural town, but
nobody may be deprived of the opportunity to develop their cultural
and national identity," Granic said.
