The two ministers discussed the situation in the region,
implementation of the Dayton agreement, reintegration of the
Croatian Danubian area, reconstruction of the region and the role
of the European Union in the reconstruction process.
The talks centered on the improvement of bilateral relations.
The Irish Foreign Minister described the talks with the
Croatian colleague as very good, stressing he hoped the relations
between the two countries would further develop in the coming
years.
'I think that the relations between Ireland and Croatia would
surely continue to develop, since there are many reasons for that',
Minister Granic said. 'We have received support for our integration
into European institutions, especially in the Council of Europe and
PHARE Program as well as for the reconstruction, especially of the
Eastern Slavonia region', Granic added.
Minister Granic invited Minister Spring to visit Croatia and
the Irish Foreign Minister accepted the invitation.
After the talks with the Irish Foreign Minister, Croatia's
Granic attended a reception, organised in his honour by the Irish-
Croatian Friendship Society. President of the Society, Mr Gerard
Danaher presented Minister Granic with a cheque for 5,000 pounds
the members of the Society gathered for a Croatian hospital.
