After the talks, Shalikashvili told reporters that he was
mostly satisfied with the process of implementing the military
part of the Agreement, but warned that the American side was
worried about the situation which had developed in the last few
days.
"This could make the implementing of the Agreement more
difficult," Shalikashvili said.
He called on Izetbegovic on Thursday to resolve the issue of
the two apprehended Serb army officers, and to free all those who
were not suspected of committing war crimes, as soon as possible.
Shalikashvili said that the Serbs had no excuse in refusing
cooperation and especially joint meetings, as both had been
established in order to resolve misunderstandings.
He also said that it had never been a U.S. policy to
negotiate with those suspected of committing war crimes.
