ZAGREB, Feb 2 (Hina) - The National Bank of Croatia was not
planning any additional monetary policy measures for February, the
National Bank Council agreed on Friday, according to a statement
issued by the National Bank this evening.
Credits to commercial banks and the government would remain at
the same level as in January, while the foreign currency reserves
would be maintained at the December level, the Council decided.
"Such a monetary framework ensures the stable exchange rate of
the kuna and keeps inflation in check," the statement said.
Maintaining price and exchange rate stability was the main
monetary policy task for 1996, the Council concluded.
