ZAGREB, Jan 26 (Hina) - The Croatian National Bank (NBH) was visited today by Roberto Verginella, president of the Italian bank 'Cassa di Risparmio di Trieste' and the director of the bank's department for international business
relations, Gianfranco Michielli. The two Italian businessmen held talks with NBH deputy governor Zdravko Rogic on the establishment of a new bank in Zagreb, a statement from the NBH said.
ZAGREB, Jan 26 (Hina) - The Croatian National Bank (NBH) was
visited today by Roberto Verginella, president of the Italian bank
'Cassa di Risparmio di Trieste' and the director of the bank's
department for international business relations, Gianfranco
Michielli. The two Italian businessmen held talks with NBH deputy
governor Zdravko Rogic on the establishment of a new bank in
Zagreb, a statement from the NBH said. #L#
The representatives of 'Cassa di Risparmio di Trieste', which
is one of the largest and oldest regional banks in Italy, said that
15 million German marks of initial capital had been secured for the
establishment of the bank. The majority shareholder with 51% of the
shares would be 'Cassa di Risparmio di Trieste'. Fourteen percent
of initial capital would be invested by the World Bank branch
department for the support to private investment, International
Finance Corporation (IFC) from Washington. Two more Italian
partners are to join the enterprise as well as 12 Croatian
shareholders, among which are some banks.
'Cassa di Risparmio di Trieste' will be the second bank in
Croatia with majority foreign ownership and it would be the first
case of IFC investment into the independent Croatia.
NBH deputy governor Zdravko Rogic informed the Italian bankers
about developmental prospects in the coming period as well as about
the functioning of the Croatian banking sector.
