Brigadier General Van de Weghe had briefed the participants
about the arrival of the UNTAES military component, the Belgian
Government decision to take over the command over UNTAES forces,
and the UN Security Council decision on the structure of the UNTAES
troops.
All participants agreed that safety had been increased in the
area. The representatives also talked about preparations for
opening a section of the Slavonia highway which runs through a
former separation zone near Lipovac, said the statement.
They agreed that talks should be held on reopening the Nustar-
Brsadin checkpoint, which had been closed last August when the
Serbs occupied it.
Both sides agreed that conditions should be created for
setting up a location on the Biljska road, where reunions of
separated families and negotiations would take place, the statement
said.
General Decak said that the Croatian Army was ready to create
conditions for safe sailing on the Drava river as soon as possible.
The participants also agreed that two Croatian Army soldiers
who had been detained by the Serbs should be released.
