The men expressed wish to go to Serbia after the release which
followed the President's decision on occasion of the Christmas and
New Year holidays. The amnesty encompassed a total of 455 persons,
captured during the military operation "Storm" last August. They
had all been arrested on suspicion on armed rebellion and subjected
to criminal procedure at the Zagreb, Split and Karlovac courts.
The group has reached the border police check-point with the
escort of the International Red Cross officials and then handed
over to the U.N. Russian peacekeepers to be transferred to Serbia.
Another group of around 100 men would cross the check-point on
Saturday.
