SARAJEVO, Feb 2 (Hina) - IFOR representatives in Sarajevo today said they would continue to effectively return any attacks on NATO soldiers in Bosnia-Herzegovina, as it was the case last night when one Serb sniper was killed and the other was arrested. The two snipers were shooting at IFOR soldiers. After a short investigation, the arrested sniper was handed over to the local Serb authorities in Ilidza, but no details on the results of the investigation have been released by IFOR. #L# Spokesman for French IFOR forces, Richard Pernod, said that both snipers were carrying military identity cards, although they were dressed in civilian clothes. IFOR commanders received from Serb representatives additional guarantees as regards the safety of IFOR soldiers. Officials in the Sarajevo IFOR headquarters said that it was individuals who were responsible for the last night's attack. The last night's incident was the 30th attack on NATO soldiers or objects since their arrival in Bosnia-Herzegovina, but it is also the first case that IFOR soldiers have killed some of the attackers. Officials in the Sarajevo IFOR headquarters today said that despite the incidents, they would continue their regular activities on the ground. It is expected that the advance party of Polish IFOR units is to arrive in Sarajevo during the day. Some 660 Polish parachutists will be deployed in northern Bosnia-Herzegovina.
