Under the Bosnian Constitution signed in Paris, the
Constitutional Court would have nine judges. Those nine would
include six judges from Bosnia-Herzegovina, who will represent the
three ethnic groups and three international judges from Belgium,
Syria and Nigeria. This composition represents a unique example of
the international legal practice.
President of the European Court for Human Rights has appointed
to the posts of judges in the Bosnian Constitutional Court the
Belgian Francois Ernest Robert Rigaux (currently professor at the
Catholic University in Louvain-la-Neuve), and two former members of
the International Court of Justice, the Syrian Abdulah-el-Khani and
the Nigerian Bol Ajibola.
At their first session, the nine judges should elect the
president of the Court by a secret vote.
