The tram was hit while passing by the 'Holiday Inn' Hotel.
IFOR representatives estimated that the attack had been an
intentional one, because the tram received a direct blow. A rocket
launcher can hit targets precisely from the distance of 200 to 300
meters.
French IFOR soldiers, who were in the area when the attack
happened, returned fire immediately, unleashing 20-mm cannon fire
towards Grbavica. After IFOR's response, sniper fire was opened
from Grbavica on the 'Holiday Inn' Hotel, but there were no
casualties.
IFOR headquarters stated that the commander of the French IFOR
brigade, General Zeller, had said that one still should not take
any measures.
NATO sources estimated that the situation in the Bosnian
capital was very tense.
It was confirmed that a child and a woman were among the
wounded in today's tram attack.
