SARAJEVO, Jan 5 (Hina) - IFOR representatives in Sarajevo on Friday
expressed their satisfaction with a speedy release of 16 civilians,
abducted by the Bosnian Serbs during Christmas holidays. IFOR
spokesman in Sarajevo Marc Reiner told today's press conference
that IFOR would continue pressuring all sides in Bosnia-Herzegovina
in order to secure freedom of movement. At the same time, he
expressed hope that the commitments accepted with the signing of
the Dayton agreement would be respected without IFOR mediation.
'Our soldiers have the necessary freedom of movement, and the
civilians in Bosnia-Herzegovina will have to decide for themselves
where and how to travel', Reiner said.
He could not confirm reports according to which the Bosnian
Serbs in the Sarajevo suburb of Ilidza had arrested three persons.
'So far we have only press reports and we have taken measures to
check whether they are true'.
IFOR was still investigating the circumstances under which an
Italian IFOR soldier had been wounded in the Serb-controlled
northern Sarajevo suburb of Vogosca, Reiner said, adding they still
did not know who was responsible for the attack.
The soldier had received wounds to his hand and the attack had
been returned, Reiner said.
