BELGRADE, 13 Dec (Hina) - Vojislav Stanimirovic, President of the
Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS) and Croatian Parliament
representative appointed by the Croatian President Franjo Tudjman,
on Saturday welcomed the agreement on dual citizenship between
Yugoslavia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, signed in Belgrade today.
"This gives us hope that a similar agreement will be signed between
Croatia and Yugoslavia soon, so that the Serb people in eastern
Slavonia would be able to exercise their right to dual
citizenship," Stanimirovic told the Belgrade-based independent
Radio B92.
Serb representatives in the Croatian Danube river region would
continue insisting on their right to dual citizenship,
Stanimirovic added.
Several thousand people were trying to get Yugoslav visas in
Vukovar today, as the new regime of border-crossing between Croatia
and Yugoslavia is to be applied as of tomorrow, Radio B92 reported.
All those crossing the Croatian-Yugoslav border will have to have
border passes or Yugoslav visas.
For that reason, the consular department of the Yugoslav embassy in
Zagreb issued visas in Vukovar today.
In the next several days, visas will be issued in Beli Manastir and
other towns as well, as part of the so-called consular days.
