SERBS IN DANUBE REGION RECEIVE TREATMENT AT OSIJEK HOSPITAL

( Editorial: --> 5366 ) TENJA, Dec 2 (Hina) - All 13 health employees at the Tenja clinic, who last month signed work contracts with the Croatian health ministry, began working in line with Croatian health laws. There are about 8,000 patients being treated at the clinic in the UN-administered village of Tenja, said doctor Goran Dubaic. Those who have Croatian health documents have the right to the same health insurance as residents in non-UN-administered areas, he said. "Initially there was lack of trust regarding sending patients to the Osijek Hospital," Dubaic said. Now though, Serb residents were being sent to Osijek for treatment if necessary, he added. Tenja had 7,860 inhabitants according to the 1991 census. During the aggression, 3,200 Croats were displaced and still live in exile. Only one Croat family has returned. According to Tomo Povreslo, deputy transitional police head in Tenja, the reconstruction of 30 houses should begin in the near future. This "means that some 100 persons could be expected to return to Tenja soon", he said. (hina) ha mm 021915 MET dec 97
