ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Hina) - The Croatian Helsinki Committee for human
rights (HHO) denied on Monday that Drago Pilsel had been dismissed
from the Committee contrary to the HHO statute.
Three-quarters of HHO members agreed on Pilsel's dismissal, the HHO
said in a statement, adding this was in line with statutory
provisions on dismissals.
The HHO session of 22 November was the continuation of a plenary
session which had begun 25 October, the statement said. Under the
"personal changes" agenda item, the HHO discussed a proposal to
request member Pilsel to resign from the Committee, one year after
the same proposal had first been made. Following Pilsel's refusal
to accept the proposal, the Committee outlined the reasons for his
dismissal, in line with the HHO statute.
The statement did not say on account of which breaches of statutory
provisions Pilsel was dismissed. The Office of the HHO told Hina a
public statement on the matter would be issued after the Saturday
session minutes were adopted.
