SARAJEVO, Nov 18 (Hina) - UN special envoy to Bosnia-Herzegovina
Kai Eide and International Police Task Force (IPTF) commissioner
Manfred Seitner on Tuesday urged top Bosnian Federation officials
to speed up the reorganisation of police forces in the Herzegovina-
Neretva canton.
The two officials met Federation president Vladimir Soljic and his
deputy Ejup Ganic to discuss proposals for the completion of the
establishment of reformed police forces, UN spokesman Alexander
Ivanko said in Sarajevo.
The proposals were presented by IPTF officials on October 25 but
were rejected by Croats over "technical problems", such as markings
on official vehicles and the removal of the Herzeg-Bosnian flag
from police stations, Ivanko said.
Ivanko said that Eide and Seitner believed that the problem was in a
lack of political will on the Croat side to overcome the
difficulties.
A statement from Soljic and Ganic's office said that they discussed
the organisation of the Federation's Interior Ministry and other
commitments that should be fulfilled in line with decisions from
Sintra, Portugal, before a meeting of the Council for the
Implementation of the Peace Agreement in Bonn on December 9.
