CROATIAN DEMOCRATIC UNION PRESIDENCY HOLDS SESSION ( Editorial: --> 9289 )

( Editorial: --> 9289 ) ZAGREB, Nov 8 (Hina) - The Presidency of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) held a session on Saturday under the chairmanship of President Franjo Tudjman, the party's main secretariat said in a statement. The Presidency reached the necessary decisions regarding the holding of inter-party elections and the fourth general HDZ assembly. The Presidency discussed the appeal against a decision of the HDZ High Court of Honour regarding a disciplinary action against the former prefect of the Osijek-Baranja County, Branimir Glavas. Besides the disciplinary measure of reprimand, the Presidency also suspended Glavas from the party for a year, in line with the HDZ Statute. Regarding the criticism of some opposition parties and Forum 21 concerning the status and programme of the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT), the Presidency stressed that the HRT was a public company which answered to the Croatian Parliament. The programme concept of the HRT, in line with European standards, was established by a Council whose members had been nominated by the Parliament among representatives of parties in the Parliament (HDZ, Croatian Social Democratic Party , HSLS, Social Democratic Party, SDP, Croatian Peasants' Party, HSS, Croatian Party of Rights, HSP), national minorities, and representatives of science, religious and cultural institutions.
