ZAGREB, Nov 3 (Hina)- Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic and
Italian Ambassador to Croatia, Francesco Olivieri, on Monday
exchanged the notes on the beginning of the implementation of an
agreement, signed by the two governments, on cancellation of the
entry visas, the Croatian foreign ministry said.
The agreement enables the citizens of Croatia and Italy to pass the
borders showing only identity cards as of Monday, 3 November.
As the Italy joined the countries that signed the Schengen
treaty, Croatia proposed that talks should be soon conducted on the
special entry lines for Croatian citizens at border crossings to
Italy. The Italian party accepted the proposal with
understanding.
Minister Granic and Ambassador Olivieri, expressed satisfaction
with the development of the bilateral relations.
During the visit of Italian President Scalfaro to Croatia, due to be
by the end of this year, Presidents Tudjman and Scalfaro are
expected to sign an agreement on friendship and cooperation.
