ROME, Oct 24 (Hina) - An 11-year-old Croat boy who received part of
his father's liver via a transplant performed in Padova, north-
western Italy, is feeling well, doctors in Padova said on Friday.
This was the first transplant of organs from one living person onto
another performed in Italy.
Bojan Satrak from Krizevci, a town 60 km east of Zagreb, suffered
from liver cancer and could be saved only with a transplant. His
father Zdenko, a Croatian Railways employee, gifted him part of his
liver.
Money for the complex surgery was collected in Bojan's hometown.
The transplant was performed with assistance from the Italian
Focolarini religious community.
