OSIJEK, Oct 27 (Hina) - Anica Horvat, a former deputy prefect of
Osijek-Baranja County, was elected to be the new Prefect of this
eastern Croatian county by a majority of vote on Monday's session of
the county assembly.
She was proposed by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party for
this post .
Marko Barisin of HDZ was elected to be a deputy prefect by the secret
ballot.
Anica Horvat is not a member of any political party, but she has said
that she thinks highly of and implements the HDZ programme.
After being sworn in, Ms. Horvat announced the setting-up of a
county committee for the implementation of the national programme
on the establishment of trust and the normalisation of life in war
affected parts of Osijek County.
At the session the assembly confirmed that the mandate of the former
County Prefect, Branimir Glavas, had ended after he had resigned.
