VUKOVAR, Oct 21 (Hina) - The eastern Croatian Vukovar-Srijem County
on Monday took over 97 employees of formerly illegal and self-
styled authorities from Vukovar and Mirkovci under an agreement
signed today by the County's Prefect, Rudolf Koenig, and the head of
the UNTAES civil affairs, Gerard Fischer.
According to Koenig, various Croatian administrative and financial
services took over 210 out of 310 employees of former illegal
authorities from Vukovar and Mirkovci. The remaining 100 will get
six average pays and priority at getting employment at the
Employment Bureau, he added.
Recalling that the mentioned persons were employed under a Croatian
government decision, Koenig said their number in the whole number
of County employees was proportionate to the national make-up of
the County's population from 1991.
The names of the employed were agreed on with the Serb side, the
prefect concluded.
