CROATIAN PRIME MINISTER RECEIVES TURKISH ARMY CHIEF OF STAFF

ZAGREB, Oct 21 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa on Tuesday received a Turkish military delegation headed by Army Chief of Staff General Ismail Karaday, the government's communications office said in a statement. The talks focused on the implementation of the Washington and Dayton agreements. It was emphasised that a memorandum on special cooperation between the Moslem-Croat Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia, which is being prepared on the basis of the Split Agreement between Presidents Tudjman and Izetbegovic, was yet another important step forward in that direction and a contribution to further stabilisation of relations in the region. The two officials expressed full support for the strengthening of the Bosnian Federation, stressing the important role of Turkey in that process. Also discussed was military cooperation between Croatia and Turkey, particularly in education and the manufacturing of military equipment. The two sides agreed that there was still a lot of space for developing the military cooperation, the statement concluded. (hina) vm 211622 MET oct 97
