TRAVNIK, Oct 2 (Hina) - The reason for Thursday's meeting between
the prefect of the central Bosnian Canton, Ivan Saric, and leaders
of the canton government, interior and justice ministries was a
letter from the chief of the OSCE regional office in Mostar, Edward
Joseph. #L#
In a letter to canton officials, Joseph demanded that an end
be put to the violence in central Bosnia and that the perpetrators
of the recent killings of six Croats ( in Travnik) and one Bosniac
(in Jajce) be found.
Asked directly by Saric about the results of the investigation
into the killings, Central Bosnian Canton Interior Minister, Enes
Handzic, offered no reply, but Justice Minister Zeljko Percinlic
said that local authorities in Travnik and Jajce had informed
investigative judges and other experts about the killings too late,
so precious evidence had mostly faded.
The establishment of canton police in Travnik is the most
disputable because the Croat side asked that the two police stations
in this municipality (in Travnik and Nova Bila) balance out their
jurisdictions, while the Moslem side wants to keep control over the
whole area.
