MOSTAR, Sept 12 (Hina) - The main Bosnian Croat party, the Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ), said on Friday it had reversed its decision not to
participate in September 13-14 local elections after reasons for a boycott
had been removed.
In a statement issued from a session in Mostar, the party leadership
called on voters to turn out for the polls in large numbers.
"The presidency is acquainted with great concern and efforts of the
international community, particularly the OSCE mission in Bosnia-
Herzegovina, to achieve a solution that would guarantee the Croats of
Bosnia-Herzegovina an equal position in the election," the statement said.
The HDZ leadership accepted an agreement reached at Thursday's
meeting with Croatia's President Franjo Tudjman, welcoming the fact that
justified objections by the Bosnian HDZ against election rules and
procedures had been accepted and that voter registration irregularities had
been corrected, the statement said.
