GRANIC $ ZAGREB, Sept 11 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman cited some new ideas for solving the crisis of the Bosnian HDZ's participation at the upcoming municipal elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and talks on the issue would continue, Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic said in Zagreb on Thursday after the talks between Tudjman and the international High Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina, Carlos Westendorp, and his deputy Jacques Klein. #L# Carlos and Westendorp talked about the situation in Bosnia, especially about the decision of the Bosnian Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party to boycott the municipal elections due to "inconsistencies during the registration of voters, mainly in Mostar, Drvar, Bosanski Brod, Vares and Zepa". "Tudjman suggested some new ideas on how to find a solution and we believe that talks will continue within the next 24 hours," Granic said. He described the talks as meaningful, open and constructive. Westendorp said the reason for his visit to Zagreb was the difficult situation not only in Republika Srpska, but also in the Bosnian Federation, regarding the upcoming municipal elections. I expressed my deep concern about the possibility of some parties, especially the HDZ, not participating in the elections because we firmly believe that these elections have to take place, Westendorp said. The failure of the elections taking place would be a serious problem and have serious consequences, Westendorp said, adding that he hoped some solution would be found. Tudjman and Westendorp continued talks during a working lunch. Participating in the talks are the President's Chief-of-Staff Hrvoje Sarinic, Foreign Minister Mate Granic, President's advisors for home affairs, Ivic Pasalic and foreign affairs, Neven Madey, as well as Westendorp's deputy Jacques Klein and assistant Fernardo Mansito.
