Granic informed Walker about the dynamics of the process of
normalisation of relations between Croatia and Yugoslavia, stressing
the importance of six bilateral agreements which are to be signed in
Belgrade soon, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Negotiations on trade agreements were under way, and the joint
commission for setting border lines was expected to start work soon,
Granic said.
Walker hailed activities in that direction and stressed the
importance of normalisation of relations.
Walker informed Granic about the process of peaceful
reintegration of the Croatian Danube river region, stressing certain
problems that had occurred in the implementation of the
reintegration. Granic and Walker agreed that it was necessary to
take every step to overcome possible problems so that the process of
peaceful reintegration could continue successfully, to the aim of a
successful and timely end of the UNTAES mandate in the area on 15
January 1998, the statement said.
