VINKOVCI, Aug 29 (Hina) - Forty-two houses will be reconstructed
in Marinci, a village in the Nustar municipality in the UN-
administered part of the eastern Croatian Vukovar-Srijem County,
in the next days which, as the village's residents said at a
meeting in Vinkovci on Friday, will make the return of displaced
persons possible.
The head of the Croatian Development and Reconstruction
Ministry's department for reconstruction, Marko Brajko, told the
residents of Marinci that 260 out of 316 houses have to be
reconstructed. One-hundred-and twenty requests for the
reconstruction have been submitted to date, he added.
Since, as was said at today's meeting, UNTAES through
unnecessary administrative obstacles made it difficult for the
displaced to access their houses, the displaced requested that
they be enabled to enter Marinci once the reconstruction of their
houses begins.
