WAR DAMAGE ASSESSED IN 20 EAST CROATIAN TOWNS AND VILLAGES

VUKOVAR, Aug 12 (Hina) - Out of 24 towns and villages included in a pilot-programme for war damage assessment in Osijek-Baranja and Vukovar-Sirmium counties, damage in 20 war-stricken residential areas was already assessed, the Croatian development and reconstruction ministry's centre for the Danube river area said on Tuesday. According to a statement issued by the centre, "the pilot- programme for the assessment of damage caused by war in Osijek- Baranja and Vukovar-Sirmium Counties has included 24 settlements in which gatherings of residents were held and then the assessment of war damage began." The pilot-programme covers these towns and villages: Branjin Vrh, Secerana, Sumarina, Bilje, Kopacevo, Kozjak, Lug, Vardarac, Zlatna Greda, Ceminac, Grabovac, Aljmas, Baranjsko Petrovo Selo, Novi Bezdan, Torjanci and Zeleno Polje (in Osijek- Baranja County); and, Marinci, Bogdanovci, Svinjarevci, Babska, Mohovo, Lovas, Sarengrad and Opatovac (Vukovar-Sirmium County). Damage has been completely assessed in 20 residential areas, whereas the procedure will soon finish in the remaining four ones. Reports on the matter will be made on time and submitted to the joint working group on Thursday (August 14). Another operational plan is being prepared with a list of residential areas where inhabitants should hold gatherings and damage assessed until the end of this month.
