DECISIVE STEP MADE IN ESTABLISHMENT OF CENTRAL BH CANTON'S POLICE

POLICE $ TRAVNIK, Aug 8 (Hina) - The government of the Central Bosnia Canton on Friday adopted a rulebook on the interior organization of the Canton's Interior Ministry. "This is a basic organization document (interior) minister Enes Handzic and I proposed by agreement to the Canton's government", Deputy Interior Minister Fabijan Trbara said. This was the first, decisive step toward the establishment of the Canton's police in line with an agreement signed in Sarajevo on 5 August by Central Bosnia Canton Prefect Ivan Saric, his deputy Adnan Terzic, Handzic and Trbara. The agreement stipulated the establishment of a parity ratio of Croats and Bosniaks (Muslims) in the Interior Ministry. The Canton's joint police is to have 1,059 members, who will be chosen according to the 1991 census. It was agreed that by 18 August, the whole composition of the Canton's police must be deployed in agreed police stations. The policemen are to wear the same uniforms with insignia of the BH Federation, until the Canton's insignia are accepted. According to the agreement, all 11 municipalities in the Central Bosnia Canton will have one police station, except Travnik, which will have two: one in Nova Bila and one in Travnik. Also, the police administration and police station in Gornji Vakuf will bear the name Gornji Vakuf - Uskoplje. "There is still a lot to do (…), but today we have made a decisive step, and I believe the deadlines from the Sarajevo agreement on the establishment of the Canton's police shall be complied with, and thus the high standards in the realization of human rights and freedoms in central Bosnia achieved", Trbara concluded.
