ZAGREB, Aug 4 (Hina) - Farmers from eastern Croatia's UN-administered
region, whose harvest was credited by the Croatian government, on Monday
delivered 14.011,311 kilos of wheat to the Commodity Stockpiles
Administration, in line with the commodity credit return contract deadline of 1
August, the government's Communications Office said in a statement.
According to the harvest crediting contract, farmers from the Danube
region of eastern Croatia were to return the credit with 14.223,571 kilos of
wheat, but the Commodity Stockpiles Administration cut the obligation for
212,260 kilos of wheat, on the basis of a report by the Commission for the
Estimation of Damage Caused by Floods in the Danube Region.
With the realization of the commodity credit return, the Commodity
Stockpiles Administration of the Croatian Agriculture ministry fully complied
with its commitments from the 1996 Autumn Harvest Programme which,
according to the statement, was another step towards a successful
completion of the Croatian Danube region's peaceful reintegration.
