ZAGREB, Aug 8 (Hina) - A driver of a tram taking another direction
is likely to have caused a collision of two trams which happened at
an intersection in Zagreb on Thursday.
Experts of Zagreb's tram company inspected switches and
traffic lights on the spot of the accident, and established that
they had been in order at the moment of the collision, the city
police said at a news conference on Friday.
Experts will also check the condition of the tram, and results
of the probe, which will not be available to the public, will be
submitted to the court that will find out whether the driver of the
tram, Mijo M., 45, has caused the accident.
The accident took place at about 1 p.m. on Thursday at the
very busy intersection of Drziceva and Vukovarska streets in Zagreb
when the tram driven by Mijo M. changed the direction and appeared
before a tram moving straight.
In the collision 23 people were slightly injured, whereas two
people sustained serious injuries and have been hospitalised.
