TUZLA, July 16 (Hina) - An SFOR soldier was stabbed with a sickle in
Serb territory near the town of Kladanj, 80 km north of Sarajevo, on
Wednesday morning, the NATO-led Stabilisation Force (SFOR) said in a
statement.
The incident happened when the soldier, on patrol, was looking into
the cause of noise coming from a building. He was attacked from behind
by a man wielding a sickle and stabbed in the shoulder.
The injured soldier was taken to a nearby SFOR camp where he
received treatment for a wound five to eight centimetres deep.
In a separate incident, a US SFOR soldier died and another was
seriously injured in a car accident which happened north of Gornji Vakuf
in central Bosnia on Tuesday.
The injured soldier was flown to a US base outside Tuzla after
receiving first aid in a hospital in Sipovo.
Both soldiers were members of the SFOR intelligence service based
in Sarajevo. They were returning from the north-western Serb-held town
of Banja Luka to Sarajevo when the accident happened. Their names will
be released subsequently, the statement said.
