VUKOVAR, Aug 5 (Hina) - The head of the Transitional Police in
the Danube region of eastern Croatia, Ivan Babic, on Tuesday said
the Transitional Police and the UN Civil Police would as of 15
August take over from UNTAES all check-points along former
boundary lines.
Members of the Transitional Police and the UN Civil Police
would until 8 August observe how UNTAES soldiers supervise the
check-points, Babic told an interview to the UNTAES radio.
From 8 to 14 August, the check-points would be supervised
by members of the Transitional Police and the UN Civil Police,
under the watch of UNTAES soldiers , who would then assess their
work, Babic said.
On 15 August UNTAES' military component should leave all
check-points, leaving them under complete supervision of the
Transitional Police and the UN Civil Police, he concluded.
