MEETING HELD ON RETURN TO CENTRAL BOSNIA

SARAJEVO, Aug 5 (Hina) - The highest officials of the Federation of Bosnia- Herzegovina and the Central Bosnia Canton on Tuesday held a meeting in Sarajevo. They expressed willingness to use all of their authority to avoid the reoccurrence of incidents which took place in the Jajce area over the weekend. They agreed on the necessity for the return of all displaced persons and refugees to their homes, a statement issued after the session said. They also agreed to provide conditions for the return of all those persons who had fled the Jajce area in fear, and that the return must be ensured by the end of this week. Today's session was chaired by Gerd Wagner, the deputy high representative for the implementation of the Dayton Accord in BH. In attendance were the president and the vice president of the BH Federation, Vladimir Soljic and Ejup Ganic respectively, federal premier Edhem Bicakcic, and the prefect and the deputy prefect of the Central Bosnia Canton. It was agreed for cantonal authorities to declare willingness to allow the return of all former residents of the area, regardless of national belonging, the statement said. A special working group would be formed to this effect, with the task to discuss the return of refugees and dedicate full attention to their safety, + in line with the Dayton Accord's Annexe VII, the statement said. A special action would be undertaken with the task to investigate complaints by some municipalities in relation to obstacles to the refugees' return. Central Bosnia Canton officials signed a proposed agreement on the establishment of a joint police and decided to step up its implementation, the statement said, concluding that it was also decided to open an ombudsman's office in Travnik, and to hold another meeting in ten days, to analyse the enforcement of the decisions.
