ZAGREB, 24 July (Hina) - The Croatian Government held a session on Thursday in Zagreb. In the part of the session which was held behind closed doors and which was chaired by Vice Premier Borislav Skegro, the Government discussed the
principles of fiscal policy in the period from 1998 to 2000. The Government entrusted all the ministries with the task of completing preparations for the introduction of value-added tax, which will be introduced on 1 January 1998, with one tax rate, the Government Communications Office said in a statement.
ZAGREB, 24 July (Hina) - The Croatian Government held a session on
Thursday in Zagreb. In the part of the session which was held behind
closed doors and which was chaired by Vice Premier Borislav Skegro, the
Government discussed the principles of fiscal policy in the period from
1998 to 2000.
The Government entrusted all the ministries with the task of
completing preparations for the introduction of value-added tax, which
will be introduced on 1 January 1998, with one tax rate, the Government
Communications Office said in a statement. #L#
The Government also adopted reports on the talks concerning the
closing of three contracts between the Croatian and Yugoslav
governments. The contracts refer to the international road traffic, the
regulation of border railway traffic and social insurance.
The Government appointed Filip Bagic Assistant Justice Minister.
It also appointed commissioners in the towns of Pregrada, Orahovica
and Vis and in the municipalities of Civljane, Tucepi, Lastovo, Viskovo,
Jelenje and Vinodolska.
The Government acted in line with the Law on Local Self-Government
and Administration, which allows it to appoint commissioners in the
units of local self-government in case those units fail to establish
their representative bodies within 60 days after the elections.
