SARAJEVO, July 10 (Hina) - President of the Serb entity in Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Biljana Plavsic, accused her political opponents gathered
in Pale that they were trying to utilise the action undertaken by NATO
soldiers in Prijedor on Thursday against her to politically discredit
her.
In a short interview broadcast by the Banja Luka television,
Plavsic said that false information had been emitted from Pale earlier
in the day, saying that she had met High Representative Carlos
Westendorp and SFOR commander General William Crouch. #L#
"Those were strikes below the belt against the president of
Republika Srpska," Plavsic said, stressing that the "action against
crime is not going to cease, although some are trying to stop it".
She condemned the operation SFOR had taken part in to apprehend war
crimes suspects in Prijedor on Thursday, and called Bosnian Serbs "to
not allow provocation and to not cause incidents".
"Such quick action is the result of a NATO session in Madrid. The
SFOR mandate has obviously been changed and their soldiers now want to
encounter war crimes suspects so that they may arrest them." Plavsic
said.
She stressed that after the operation in Prijedor, she had no
intention of contacting representatives of the international community.
