Friday. #L#
The group of fifteen Albanians were charged with committing several
terrorist acts in the period from 1992 to 1996, in which four persons of
Serb nationality, three police officers, were killed in Kosovo (southern
province of Serbia with mostly Albanian population).
Eleven Albanians were given maximum sentence of 20 years in prison,
two were sentenced to 15 years in prison each, one was sentenced to 10
years in prison and one to 4 years in prison because his indictment had
been changed, so he was charged with illegal possession of firearms.
Twelve of the convicted were sentenced in absentia, as they are on
the run.
The court proceedings against the fifteen Albanians were condemned
by the largest Kosovo Albanian party - the Democratic Union of Kosovo-
stressing that these were obviously rigged proceedings which had been
organised by the Serbian regime in Kosovo for years.
