General Shinseki is the fourth high official of the US armed forces
leading NATO troops for support to the implementation of the peace
agreement in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The first commander was Admiral Leighton Smith who was
succeeded by Admiral Joseph Lopez. Both also lead NATO's left wing.
General Crouch assumed the duty of SFOR commander a year ago,
as the commander of NATO land forces in central Europe (LANDCENT). His
successor in Bosnia-Herzegovina is also to assume the same duty.
Shinseki will also assume command of all US troops deployed in
Europe (USAREUR).
