ERNESTINOVO MUNICIPAL OFFICE OPENED ON WEDNESDAY

ERNESTINOVO, July 16 (Hina) - The office of the Ernestinovo (Croatian Danube river region) Municipal Leadership was opened on Wednesday. Present at the ceremony, along with many residents, were representatives of UNTAES and UNHCR. Also, the Office for the Reconstruction of Ernestinovo was opened in the same building. Deputy municipal chief, Zvonko Bugarin, stressed that "today is a great day because it is no longer doubtful that the true return of displaced persons has begun". He recalled that, according to the 1991 census, 1,495 persons lived in Ernestinovo before the war, out of which about a thousand were in exile. One hundred and twenty houses are being reconstructed in Ernestinovo, and about 500 displaced persons enter the town daily to reconstruct their houses and the town. Members of the Ernestinovo Municipal Leadership asked UNTAES on Wednesday to move the Russian battalion check point from the entrance to Ernestinovo to the Lastovo-Ada-Ernestinovo road fork.
