The offices of the Regional Office for Displaced Persons and
Refugees in Vukovar, Tovarnik and Ilok had so far registered 4,254 Serb
families, out of which 2,955 wanted to return to their homes.
Minor incidents were occurring during the registration, like the
one which happened last night, when a plaque with the name of the Office
for Displaced Persons and Refugees in Tovarnik was broken, the statement
said.
The UNTAES would be asked to allow the transportation of
reconstruction material for the Danube river region via Nustar and
Brsadin to Vukovar, as the road running through Stari Jankovci and
Petrovci was not suitable for the transportation of such cargo, the
statement said.
A UNTAES representative called on the mayors and municipal heads
participating in today's meeting to attend a course on local government
in multi-ethnic societies to be held in Austria from 28 July to 1
August, the statement concluded.
