Susak, president of the Committee for the Presentation of Awards
which had been presented for the first time, said that the Defence
Ministry had cooperated with science institutions for six years.
"Notwithstanding the will and organisation, without the
contribution of science in the creation of an armed force, we would have
no future," Susak stressed. He called on other scientists to take part
in the development of the Croatian defence system.
Research for the defence system in the national research program
was one of national priorities, Kostovic said, adding that pieces of
work that had been awarded had been judged under scientific criteria.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the scientists awarded for
achievements in natural, technical, biotechnical, medicinal and social
sciences, Kresimir Cosic said they were accepting the rewards as a
stimulus to continue their work, with the aim of contributing to the
further strengthening of the Croatian defence system.
