The conference is attended by representatives of 16 Central, East
and South-East European countries, headed by their foreign ministers or
other high foreign ministries' officials. Currently, CEI represents the
largest regional association in Europe.
Speaking about the importance of the conference, Croatia's Granic
told reporters that Croatia, as a Central European and Mediterranean
country, was interested in participation in CEI's work.
'The Central European Free Trade Association (CEFTA) is the most
important issue for us, then an agreement on cooperation with the
European Union, Partnership for Peace and an agreement with the World
Trade Organisation (WTO). However, one of our priorities is also the
implementation of the Dayton and Washington agreements and CEI is the
best place to discuss all those topics', Granic said.
There was interest for numerous joint projects in Central Europe,
Granic said, adding that this topic should be discussed more thoroughly
at tomorrow's plenary session, when a final document should be adopted
as well.
