ZAGREB, 27 June (Hina) - The ministerial conference 'Global Knowledge 97' ended in Toronto Thursday afternoon, local time. The four-day conference was closed with a discussion on the improvement of cooperation in the exchange of
information concerning economic and social development and assistance to developing countries through international dialogue and knowledge transfer.
ZAGREB, 27 June (Hina) - The ministerial conference 'Global Knowledge
97' ended in Toronto Thursday afternoon, local time.
The four-day conference was closed with a discussion on the
improvement of cooperation in the exchange of information concerning
economic and social development and assistance to developing countries
through international dialogue and knowledge transfer. #L#
The conference was attended by representatives of 180 countries,
including 80 science ministers and five premiers.
The Croatian delegation at the conference included Science and
Technology Minister Ivica Kostovic and his assistant Radovan Fuchs.
During his several-day visit to Canada, Kostovic also visited
Ottawa, where he met the highest Canadian officials. Kostovic and Fuchs
were also received by John Manley, Canada's Minister of Industry,
Science and Technology.
During his visit to the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
International Trade, Kostovic was informed about a newly-established
800-dollar-worth innovation fund. The fund would be used for the
financing of Canadian-Croatian projects from the field of science and
technology.
The Canadian officials were interested in the process of peaceful
reintegration of the Croatian Danube river region and the current
political situation in Croatia.
Croatia's Science and Technology Minister also met prominent
Canadian scientists and representatives of the Croat community from
Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Ottawa.
