ZAGREB, June 7 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on Saturday
received UN's Special Rapporteur for human rights, Elisabeth Rehn, the
President's Office said in a statement.
Mrs. Rehn expressed satisfaction with the establishment of bodies
of local government and self-government in the Croatian Danube region,
with the Croatian President's speech in Beli Manastir and the
announcement of his visit to Vukovar.
With the establishment of legitimate authority in line with
election results, and with the introduction of Croatia's currency, the
kuna, Croatian public enterprise and legal system, conditions were
created for the completion of the military component of UNTAES' mandate,
said the Croatian President.
Ahead of us is the time of reconstruction, President Tudjman said,
and the fact that the prefects of all counties would come to Vukovar
tomorrow was a sign that all representatives of state authority must
implement the state policy, which guaranteed safety to all Croatian
citizens.
Alongside Croatia's President, present at today's meeting were also
Croatian Vice Premier Ivica Kostovic, the President's advisor for
humanitarian issues, Slobodan Lang, and the President's deputy chief-of-
staff, Vesna Skare-Ozbolt.
