ZAGREB, Mar 28 (Hina/IKA) - The Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Franjo
Kuharic, on Friday forwarded an Easter message to Croatians, the Catholic
Information Agency (IKA) said.
"We are faced with difficult world crises: moral, spiritual, social,
economic, political and civilizational in general, and it is inevitable to
ask (…) what is man and what is happening to him? He is the subject of all
these crises. They are actually taking place within man", the message said.
Man is a "mystery in every wickedness; takes pride in his power to the
point of haughtiness; manifests his cruelty towards other men without the
least compassion; can be unquenchable in his hatred, (…) in his greed (…),"
the message further said and added that the Church called on its "sons and
daughters" to question their conscience.
"The media are creating a myth about 'modern man' to whom everything
must be subordinated, God too. Apostle Paul knows the difference between the
old and the new man. The old man is an old man in every epoch in that he is
unconverted and a slave to sin. The new man is a man turned away from
wickedness and transformed by Christ's redemption (…)", said Cardinal
Kuharic, among else, in his Easter message to Croatians.
