BUDAPEST, Dec 23 (Hina) - Croatian and Hungarian business
delegations met in Budapest on Tuesday to discuss current issues in
the Croatian-Hungarian economic cooperation and possibilities for
cooperation in the field of power production and construction.
The Hungarian delegation was headed by deputy state secretary Peter
Balas while the Croatian delegation was led by Croatian Assistant
Economy Minister Neven Mimica.
The Hungarian delegation stressed the problem of limits on the
import of agricultural products to Croatia, adding those measures
had especially affected Hungarian exporters, because of their
scope as well as because of the position Hungary had acquired in the
Croatian market over the past several years.
They called for a discussion on possible export benefits for the
import of Hungarian agricultural products to Croatia.
The meeting also concluded that it was in the interest of both sides
for Hungarian companies to participate in reconstruction projects
in Croatia. The two sides agreed that the next round of talks on free
trade would be held in the first three months of 1999.
