Minister Nenad Porges is attending the second meeting of a mixed
Croatian-Bulgarian commission for economic cooperation, taking
place in the Bulgarian capital between December 6 and 8.
According to a statement by the Croatian Embassy in Bulgaria issued
on Monday, delegations of the two countries discussed economy,
progress tendencies in national economies, the structure of
institutional frameworks, and integration with the new security
and economic structures in Europe.
Special emphasis was placed on Croatian-Bulgarian commodity
exchange, which this year marked a drop. To expand economic
cooperation and increase the commodity exchange, it was agreed to
prioritise the power industry, manufacturing, the machine
industry, and agriculture.
It was also agreed to establish a mixed expert committee which
should soon convene and commence negotiations on free trade.
Talks also focused on possibilities of improving road, rail, and
river and sea transport.
The third meeting of the Croatian-Bulgarian commission for
economic cooperation will take place in Zagreb in the second half of
1999.
A protocol on the the commission's current session is expected to be
signed tomorrow.
