ORASJE, Dec 22 (Hina) - Following Tuesday's opening of a bridge over the Sava River, Croatian President Franjo Tudjman met with delegations of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency and BH Federation in Orasje, northern Bosnia. The bridge that was opened today links the eastern Croatian town of Zupanja with Orasje. Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic said after the meeting that the sides had discussed the implementation of an agreement on special relations between Croatia and the BH Federation and the process of drawing up annexes to the agreement. Discussions were also held about the functioning of the Federation, customs and other current issues, as well as about the need to intensify the activities of the Commission for Cooperation in solving border issues, Granic said. The Croat member of the Bosnian three-man state presidency, Ante Jelavic, said the talks supported the process of drawing up the annexes, especially those regarding the economic and military cooperation. The visit of President Tudjman and the high Croatian state delegation is the "strongest possible message Croatia could give to the Bosnian Posavina region and the whole country that it will continue to care for Bosnian Croats, as regards their equality", Jelavic said. The Inter-State Council between Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina should hold a working meeting at the end of January, to discuss customs and border issues, Jelavic announced. The Croatian delegation expressed regret over the failure of several invited Bosniak officials to appear at the opening ceremony, and especially over the non-attendance of officials from the Office of the High Representative (OHR), President Tudjman's spokesman Tihomir Vinkovic said. Vinkovic described today's opening of the bridge as an event of great importance for the development of relations between the two countries. After the opening ceremony, Tudjman met with a delegation of the Posavina Canton and representatives of local Homeland war associations. He then visited a local park in Orasje, where he lit a candle in front of a monument erected in memory of Homeland war victims. (hina) jn rml
