SARAJEVO, Dec 18 (Hina) - The international community firmly stands
behind its decision that trade between Bosnia-Herzegovina and
other countries must be determined at a state level, not at levels
of the two Bosnian entities, and that the Law on Customs Tariffs
effectual as of March should be consistently implemented, deputy
High International Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina, Simon
Haselock, said in Sarajevo on Friday.
Commenting on the request of the High Representative to rescind
preferential tariffs for goods imported to the Bosnian Federation
from Croatia and Republika Srpska from FR Yugoslavia, Haselock
stressed the request had been endorsed by the conclusions of the
Madrid Peace Implementation Conference for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Bosnia-Herzegovina has so far been without significant revenue
resources for its budget because customs tariffs had not been paid
for goods imported from neighbouring countries.
Such conditions should be changed by the fact that customs will as
of now be paid under unified tariffs as set by the state law on
customs tariffs, Haselock said.
