him guilty of violations of laws and customs of war.
The ICTY indictment charged the 29-year-old Furundzija, former
commander of "The Jokers", a Croatian Defence Council special
operations unit, with torture and rape for failing to prevent one of
his subordinates from torturing and raping a Bosnian Moslem woman.
According to the indictment, Furundzija was present in May 1993
