ZAGREB, Dec 7 (Hina) - Croatia, says Croatian President Franjo
Tudjman, with its policies, diplomacy and specific military
victories, has become a significant international factor which
must be counted upon by all, even those whose desire it was to depose
of Croatia and establish a new type of state.
In his address to the ruling Croatian Democratic Union's session of
its National Committee, the President of the Republic and party
president spoke about the historical significance of the recently
signed Agreement on Special Relations Between Croatia and the
Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina. In that light, he recalled the
politics of that sector of the international community which
attempted to destroy the HDZ in that part of Bosnia by destabilising
the party in Croatia and with that the Croatian state.
Tudjman reflected on the numerous pressures on the HDZ within the
country and outside it by, as he said, international factors which
still relied on their Versailles positions as well as through the
tabloid press which is financed from outside which pushed for an
unnatural unity of Opposition parties in Croatia. This was all in
the aim of destabilising Croatia, Tudjman said.
The HDZ nevertheless, said Tudjman, showed its strength and
firmness and managed to resist all these efforts.
Tudjman said that "we will not allow to be sheep led by geese in the
fog". He emphasised the significance of the Pope's visit to Croatia
and the beatification of Zagreb Archbishop, Cardinal Alojzije
Stepinac. With this act, said Tudjman, the Vatican and Catholicism
stood in opposition to attempts by certain factors in the world to
arouse a guilt complex amongst the Croatian people and today's
Croatian state.
President Tudjman expressed interest for dialogue with all
parties, particularly those related to the HDZ. He called on an even
more effective battle against beaurocracy, misuse of power and
crime.
The Croatian Democratic Union must continue realising Croatia's
victorious politics which has united the majority of the Croatian
people. Our politics must continue to motivate development and must
be a guarantee for the future of the Croatian state stressed
President Tudjman.
No-one, he added, can be more social than the Croatian Democratic
Union with regard to care for every man and with regard to high
ethical and moral principles.
